Propel NY Energy Marks Earth Week With Website Launch As Solutions Advance in NYISO

Proposed Clean Energy Projects to Offer Vital Link to Deliver Offshore Wind

The New York Power Authority (NYPA) and New York Transco (NY Transco) celebrate Earth Week with the launch of the Propel NY Energy transmission solutions website — www.PropelNYEnergy.com —  offering information on critical projects that will result in a more resilient and reliable transmission system and deliver clean offshore wind energy to New York homes and businesses.

 

The proposed Propel NY Energy projects would provide New York with environmental and economic benefits, including reduced greenhouse gas emissions, clean energy jobs and advance the state’s nation-leading climate goals.

 

The Propel NY Energy projects are in response to the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) competitive process for the Long Island Offshore Wind Export Public Policy Transmission Need Project Solicitation. This Solicitation seeks innovative electric transmission solutions for delivering offshore wind energy onto the statewide electric grid.

Earlier this month, the NYISO released its final Viability and Sufficiency Assessment, determining that six Propel NY Energy electric transmission solutions have satisfied the identified needs to deliver electricity produced by offshore wind generation. The next phase in the NYISO process is Evaluation and Selection.
