MASSENA –The New York Power Authority (NYPA) will begin the installation of docks and buoys along the St. Lawrence River in the vicinity of its St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Hydroelectric Power Plant during the week of April 22. The process is expected to take approximately two weeks, but is dependent on the weather and river conditions.
The dock installation will begin in Massena at Hawkins Point and will be completed at Howard Park docks in the Town of Waddington.
The docks and buoys will be installed in the following locations:
In the Town of Massena:
Hawkins Point
Massena Intake docks
- South Channel buoys
- Massena Country Club docks
In the Town and Village of Waddington:
- Whitaker Park docks
- Old Milk Factory buoys
- Howard Park docks
All the docks and buoys are scheduled to be removed in the fall, depending on weather and river conditions. The fall removal is timed so they are taken out before heavy frost or ice form on the surface of the docks, creating unsafe conditions for workers and the boating public. NYPA will notify the media and the general public in advance of the work.
