For Immediate Release: 08/21/18

MEDIA ADVISORY & PHOTO OPPORTUNITY

New York Power Authority (NYPA) President and CEO Gil C. Quiniones will join with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) President and CEO Jeff Lyash and other distinguished guests to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the St. Lawrence-FDR Power Project with its sister plant on the Canadian side—the OPG station. The event honors 60 years of economic and environmental benefits for New York State in addition to recognizing and reaffirming the long history of New York’s cross-border cooperation with its Canadian partners.

At the event, NYPA and OPG will publicly sign onto a 15-year renewal of the Joint Works Agreement between the New York and Canadian energy entities. The event, which is set in the middle of the dam before the International Friendship monument, will also feature a “Hands Across the Border” handshake and a cake-cutting.
