FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NORTH BLENHEIM—The New York Power Authority, in conjunction with Mine Kill State
Park, will offer a free invasive species workshop on March 7, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Blenheim-Gilboa Visitors Center.

Hear about the Hemlock Wooly Adelgid, an invasive species, from Cornell University Professor Mark Whitmore. The Hemlock Wooly Adelgid is an insect that endangers hemlock and spruce trees by sucking the sap out of their trunks.

Learn how to collect meaningful data that will be used to help track the spread of HWA, and also the most effective bio-controls to limit the insects’ spread. Attendees can also learn how to conduct a professional survey and then head outside to conduct their own survey.

Light refreshments will be served during and after the survey.

For more information call Mine Kill State Park at (518) 827-8690.

The visitors center and adjacent Lansing Manor are located on Route 30 in North Blenheim, five miles north of Grand Gorge, 17 miles south of Middleburgh and 50 miles southwest of Albany. For more information, call 800-724-0309.
