Chill Out with Free Movies During the Winter Holiday Break at N.Y. Power Authority's Hawkins Point Visitor Center

MASSENA - The New York Power Authority (NYPA) will mark the holiday break with a series of movies at the St. Lawrence-Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Hydroelectric Power Plant’s admission-free Frank S. McCullough, Jr. Hawkins Point Visitors Center.

Movies will be held at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in the visitors center theater on Dec. 26, Dec. 27 and Dec. 30. The movies and show times are:

Thursday, Dec. 26
10 a.m. “Despicable Me”
1 p.m. “Despicable Me 2” 
3 p.m. “The Croods”

Friday, Dec. 27:
10 a.m. “Super Buddies”
1 p.m. “Epic” 
3 p.m. “Monsters University” 

Monday, Dec. 30
10 a.m. “Turbo”
1 p.m. “The Smurfs”
3 p.m. “Planes”

Along with enjoying the movies, visitors can sample the array of hands-on exhibits at the Hawkins Point facility, which presents information on such themes as water power and the St. Lawrence-FDR plant, basics of electricity and uses of electricity. Another highlight is the panoramic view of the project’s power dam from Hawkins Point.

The visitors center, which operates on Monday-Friday this time of year, will be closed Dec. 24, Dec. 25, Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. The normal schedule resumes on Jan. 2 with hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
