Overview

At NYPA, we support career seekers by collaborating with community-based organizations, training providers, and educational institutions to deliver accessible, high-quality clean energy workforce programs. These programs are designed to equip individuals, especially those from disadvantaged communities, with the skills, certifications, and career pathways needed to thrive in New York’s growing clean energy economy.

Student Success Stories

For many young New Yorkers, a career in the trades starts with a single opportunity. The New York Power Authority (NYPA) is investing in programs like Build and Beyond, a pre-apprenticeship initiative that’s helping students from disadvantaged communities gain the skills, confidence and connections they need to succeed in the workforce.

“The pre-apprenticeship program with Local 17 was one of the most valuable experiences of my life. Under the guidance of instructor TJ Smith, I gained not only hands-on skills but also the confidence and discipline to succeed. Thanks to this program, I’m prepared for a rewarding career and a better life ahead.”
