No impacts to Recreational Use of the Reservoir

UTICA—The New York Power Authority (NYPA) will be conducting necessary repair work at the Hinckley Reservoir outlet that will affect the schedule of outflows into the West Canada Creek. There will be no impact to the public or to recreation on the Reservoir.

The repair work will take place August 21-30 and then again from September 3-5.  During the scheduled work periods, outflows to the West Canada Creek between Hinckley Dam and Prospect, will be adjusted to occur during the evening and nighttime hours only, however the volume of water released will remain the same as if the work was not taking place.

The Power Authority has coordinated with Brookfield Renewable Power and the New York State Canal Corporation to ensure there is minimal effect on the West Canada Creek flows and fishery downstream of Prospect.
