Free March Movies: Friday Matinees at 1:30 p.m.
NYPA will show a selection of classic movies in the Hawkins Point Visitors Center auditorium every Friday at 1:30 p.m. Free popcorn will be available for the movie showings.
March 8: “An Unfinished Life” (2005). A rancher lives quietly in rugged Wyoming alongside his only trusted friend until the woman he blames for the death of his only son arrives at his door broke, desperate, and with a granddaughter he's never known.
March 15: “Out of Africa” (1985). A strong-willed woman who runs a coffee plantation in Kenya finds herself falling in love with the land, its people and a mysterious hunter.
March 22: “Now and Then” (1999). A poignant look at girlhood friendships and how one summer set in motion the adult lives of four remarkable women.
The visitors center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Visitors Center will be closed on Friday, March 29, in honor of Good Friday.
Besides enjoying the movies, visitors can sample the array of hands-on exhibits at the Hawkins Point facility, which presents information on such subjects as water power and the St. Lawrence-FDR hydroelectric plant.
