ALBANY—The New York Power Authority (NYPA), working with the Canal Corporation, will oversee a water drawdown on July 11 to close the adult fish bypass at Vischer Ferry dam, on the Mohawk River. The schedule is as follows:

Wednesday, July 11

  • Drawdown of the water level at Vischer Ferry will start at 4 am and drop to the elevation of
210.9 feet by 10:30 am.  The work will be completed and the water level will start to rise by 11:30 am.

  • Water level at Vischer Ferry will return to normal level in approximately 18 to 36 hours after the work is complete, depending on the river flow.

Unforeseen precipitation and high water conditions may delay this schedule or decrease the time to refill.  Any questions regarding this work should be directed to John Osinski in NYPA’s Albany Office at 518-433-6742.
