FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LEWISTON—The New York Power Authority (NYPA) wants
to help keep rising gas prices from putting a crimp in your vacation
plans. This Memorial Day, May 28, for the second straight year, NYPA
will kick off its summer travel campaign: “More Cruisin’ Less Fuelin’…
No Foolin’!” combining pocketbook-friendly travel ideas with
energy-saving tips—both good for the family budget. This year’s
promotion includes a new feature to provide “green” information on
how to make your home or business more environmentally friendly.
Activities start with a trip to NYPA’s
admission-free Power Vista at the Niagara Power Project and continue
on to other nearby attractions in beautiful Western New York to
begin a summer of memorable family adventures. While at the Power
Vista one can pick up a free information folder full of brochures on
local family-fun destinations, which use just a few gallons of gas
to visit, and fact sheets on energy-saving and “green” ideas.
“We encourage everyone to stop by our “newly green”
Power Vista and learn about all the great energy-saving tips that
will keep more money in your wallet,” said Cathy Blood, community
relations representative at the Power Vista. “There is so much to
see and do at the Power Vista and throughout all of Western New York
without having to keep refilling your gas tank.”
The Power Vista, the visitors center at the Niagara
Project, offers a fun-filled day with its many exciting hands-on
exhibits on energy, electricity, history and the environment. A
hybrid electric car is on display with information on its gas-saving
features. The Power Vista also has a spectacular observation deck
that provides a bird’s-eye view of the Niagara River and Gorge 350
feet below.
The Power Vista is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily,
except for some holidays. For more information on the Power Vista at
the Niagara Power Project and a schedule of events, call
716-286-6661 or 1-866-NYPA-FUN.
