Opportunity: Northern Adirondack
Regional Envirothon
May 9, 2007
The Northern Adirondack Regional Envirothon will be
held on Thursday, May 10 at 10 a.m. at Paul Smith’s College. The
event is sponsored by the New York Power Authority; the St.
Lawrence, Franklin, Clinton and Essex County Soil and Water
Conservation Districts; and Paul Smith’s College.
The Envirothon is a competition that tests high
school students’ knowledge of aquatics, soils, forestry, wildlife,
and a current natural resource issue. This year’s issue is
“Alternative and Renewable Energy.”
There will be ample opportunities for photos as
students from St. Lawrence, Franklin, Clinton and Essex County high
schools compete to represent the area at the state competition, May
23 and 24 at the State University of New York College at Cobleskill.
The winning team from New York State will compete in the 20th Annual
Canon Envirothon Championship, July 29 through Aug. 4 at Hobart and
William Smith Colleges in Geneva, N.Y.
