Note to Editors:
The October installment of “This Week in NYPA
History” is now available on the New York Power Authority’s Web site
(www.nypa.gov).
Please click “Celebrating Our 75th Anniversary—This Week in NYPA
History” on the home page to access this listing. The compilations
for past months are also included.
The Power Authority, the nation’s largest
state-owned electric utility, is marking its 75th anniversary this
year. Gov. Franklin D. Roosevelt signed legislation creating the
Power Authority on April 27, 1931, at his Hyde Park home.
As part of the anniversary observance, we are
issuing summaries of major events in Power Authority history for
each month throughout the year. The events are broken down by week
to facilitate use by newspapers on a continual or intermittent
basis.
Please feel free to publish the listings in full or
to select items that you believe would be of particular interest to
your readers. If you wish additional information on individual
items, or assistance in developing them into stories, please contact
me by phone or e-mail.
Thank you,
