ASTORIA—As in past years, the New York Power
Authority (NYPA) will be a supporter of the United Community Civic
Association’s (UCCA) Annual Health Fair in Astoria on June 3. Power
Authority representatives will also be on hand to demonstrate a NYPA
hybrid-electric vehicle and to talk about hybrid technology.
This outdoor event, held in the schoolyard of St.
Francis of Assisi elementary school (2118 46th Street), draws
thousands of residents from Astoria, Astoria Heights, East Elmhurst,
Jackson Heights and Long Island City annually, and is a joint
venture between the UCCA and Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens.
Rose Marie Poveromo, president of the UCCA, said,
“We look forward, once again, to NYPA showing the latest
environmentally-friendly hybrid cars.”
“NYPA has always been counted on to rally to the
assistance of community events whenever possible and we look forward
to continuing our support,” said Joseph Leary, NYPA’s director of
public and governmental affairs for Southeastern New York.
About NYPA:
