Watercraft Safety Course at Hawkins Point Visitors Center

The New York Power Authority’s (NYPA) new Hawkins
Point Visitors Center will be the location for a free, three-day,
New York Safe Boating Course on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday,
May 16, 17, 18, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Vicki Garcia, public
information officer, Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation,
is the course instructor. All three evenings must be attended in
order to receive the certification.
Upon completing the course, passing the test, and
submitting the $10 fee and forms to the New York State Department of
Parks and Recreation, those 18 and over will be sent their permanent
safety certificate. For those under 18, the fee is waived and the
course instructor submits the forms.

DATES: Three-Day
Course: Tuesday May 16th – Thursday May 18th
Participants must attend all three evenings. Dress comfortably.
TIME: 6 p.m.
to 9 p.m.
PLACE: Hawkins
Point Visitors Center, St. Lawrence-FDR Power Project
COST:
The course is free, but $10 for those 18 and over who apply for
certification.
DIRECTIONS: From Massena: Take State Route 37
east to Route 131 (across from St. Lawrence Centre Mall), turn left
and proceed through the Eisenhower Lock tunnel. Then take the second
right onto Robinson Bay Road and continue for two miles. Turn left
onto Hawkins Point Road and follow the entrance road to the visitors
center.
