FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MASSENA—The New York Power Authority (NYPA) is
collaborating with twenty-one tourism destinations on both sides of
the St. Lawrence River to work in unison to promote tourism. Known
as the St. Lawrence International Partnership (SLIP), this
organization has just released its striking “Attractions Passbook
2006.”
The “Attractions Passbook 2006” contains site
profiles, maps and monthly events, giving the visitor an easy to
follow handbook for use throughout the year. New this year is
NYPA’s admission-free Hawkins Point Visitors Center which just
opened last year. The new $5 million visitors center features many
interactive displays on electricity plus an outstanding view of the
giant St. Lawrence-FDR Power Project from across the South Channel
of the St. Lawrence River.
SLIP’s non-profit cultural venues are located in
the St. Lawrence River Valley, along the southern Ontario border and
northern New York State. In addition to the welcoming enthusiasm,
visitors can expect distinctiveness in each attraction. The
international bond among the United States, Canada and Native North
Americans showcases the diverse uniqueness through educating,
explaining and exposing individuals to cultural traditions, lost
societies, expressive art and stunning sculptures.
Tourists travel from afar to delight in touring
historic sites, a Gilded Age castle, enjoy local accounts, learn
about electricity, appreciate antique boating, and learn about
woodworking tools of yesteryear. Climb the stairs of a windmill,
retrace steps at a blockhouse and on the battlefield, discover a
“19th Century” village, experience life behind bars, and savor the
outdoors along state and provincial walking trails and parks.
Obtain your free “Attractions Passbook 2006” from
your local Chamber of Commerce, Ontario Tourism Offices, TI Council
on Interstate 81 North Visitor Centers, the Hawkins Point Visitors
Center and area trade shows. This passbook lists addresses,
admissions, hours of operation, websites and site descriptions. In
Canada, to acquire your copy, telephone (613) 382-2535 and in the
United States, call (315) 393-2425.
