WHITE PLAINS—The Urban Green Council has appointed New York Power Authority Chief Commercial Officer Jill C. Anderson to an open seat on its board of directors.

Urban Green Council, a non-profit organization affiliated with the U.S. Green Building Council, is dedicated to transforming New York City buildings for a sustainable future.

“During Jill Anderson’s time at the Power Authority, she has demonstrated an unflappable commitment to leading New York State toward a clean energy economy,” said Gil C. Quiniones, NYPA president and CEO. “She will be a valued asset for the Urban Green Council, providing thought leadership at a critical time in our nation’s fight against harmful greenhouse gas emissions and climate change.”

Anderson attended her first board meeting last Thursday that included guest speaker Mahesh Ramanujam, CEO of the U.S. Green Building Council.

Anderson, in her role as Chief Commercial Officer at NYPA, oversees all wholesale and retail operations at the public utility. She is responsible for $2 billion in annual revenues from the Power Authority’s 16 power generation assets, supervising trading, fuel operations, hedging and business development for new transmission and generation activities. She also oversees customer operations that include sales, marketing, new products and the implementation of over $200 million-a-year in energy efficiency sales.

Anderson also helps to lead several Governor Andrew M. Cuomo initiatives that are administered by NYPA, including BuildSmartNY, a comprehensive statewide program to increase energy efficiency in public buildings, and ReCharge NY, a low-cost power program that is currently reducing electricity costs for more than 760 businesses and not-for-profit organizations, and has positively impacted the New York State economy by retaining and creating jobs, and sparking capital investment in regions throughout the state.
