John R. Koelmel, of East Amherst N.Y., was elected Chairman of the New York Power Authority (NYPA) Board of Trustees, by his fellow Trustees at their June 26, 2012 meeting. Koelmel became a Trustee in June 2012, after being nominated by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and confirmed by the State Senate. He is President and Chief Executive Officer of First Niagara Financial Group, Inc., and its principal subsidiary First Niagara Bank, N.A.
