NORTH BLENHEIM—The New York Power Authority (NYPA) will offer a limited number of permits for bow-hunting and /or crossbow hunting on designated areas around its Blenheim-Gilboa Pumped Storage Power Project for use during the 2012 hunting season, October 1 through December 18.
One hundred hunting permits will be selected by lottery. For an application to participate in the lottery, call 800-724-0309 or write to:
New York Power Authority To be eligible for the lottery, applicants must demonstrate shooting proficiency. New York State Department of Environmental Conservation certified Bow Hunter Education Instructors will offer the proficiency examination on September 4, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Lansing Manor on the grounds of the Blenheim-Gilboa Vistors Center Complex and on September 6, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Middleburgh Rod and Gun Club on Middlefort Road in the Town of Middleburgh. Both bow hunters and crossbow hunters must demonstrate shooting proficiency to be eligible for a Blenheim-Gilboa permit. There are no charges for the lottery application, permit or the certification proficiency exam.
