	MEDIA ADVISORY AND PHOTO OPPORTUNITY NORTH BLENHEIM—On Wednesday, Sept. 19, the New York Power Authority (NYPA) will present more than $207,000 in special recognition funding, for needs identified during last summer’s storms, to nine rescue organizations serving Schoharie and Delaware county communities in the area surrounding NYPA’s Blenheim-Gilboa (B-G) Pumped Storage Power Project. NYPA will also announce the issuance of a Request for Proposals (RFP) to improve cellular and wireless communications in the vicinity surrounding the B-G power plant. The presentation builds on the long-term commitment by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the state, under the NY Works program, to rebuild communities affected by Tropical Storms Irene and Lee, and prepare for future emergencies. Quiniones, president and CEO, NYPA, and Lynn Hait, regional manager, Central New York, NYPA, will be joined by state elected officials at the presentation of the funding to representatives of first-responder organizations from the Blenheim Hose Company, Conesville Fire Department, Conesville Rescue Squad, Grand Gorge Fire Department, Grand Gorge Rescue Squad, Jefferson Fire Department, Jefferson Rescue Squad, Middleburgh Emergency Volunteer Ambulance Corp. and Middleburgh Fire Department. In line with the Power Authority’s upgrades to communications systems at the B-G power plant, NYPA will also issue an RFP for enhanced cellular and wireless communications with the objective to work with other entities to enhance communication coverage in the vicinity of the power plant and in the surrounding communities.
